If Privacy is part of your profession, this is an outstanding resource. Not burdened with overly complex regulatory citations, Determann has managed to create a solid, satisfying, highly useful, and practicable guide to global privacy. Including the GDPR. This book won't be your last resource; but it should be your first for creating a privacy program or simply understanding privacy overall.Just a bit of warning. While it is easy to read, it is dense (but full of great information). You won't 'eat' it all in one go, as your wouldn't with one those dense double-chocolate brownies that taste so darn good. But it will be almost as satisfying. Two thumbs up! This guy knows his stuff and makes it easy to understand.

Lothar spoke at our state bar data privacy and security conference, he is extremely knowledgeabe and well informed of what is required today, and what is coming, the book is practical and an excellent resource for any practitioner in data privacy or data security.

I have been reading this book for over 12 years now and generally buy it for all of my new sponsees. This is a great daily meditation book for women in recovery.

Love this little book, daily quotes etc. most of the daily messages are applicable to a lot of situations EXCEPT ! I did not understand that the messages would refer to the “program “ That may be fine for some, if that applies. And please don’t misunderstand but that is not what I was looking for. I would have given this four stars if there was a lot less mention to the “ program” and mor general and generic! The women’s issues are wonderful, but not everyone has an issue with substance abuse!

I am very familiar with Hazelden. Excellent stuff! If you are not yet familiar, invest a few dollars. You will not regret it. They are "the cream of the crop" in their particular area of literature. I read the book Twenty-Four Hours a Day every morning.I purchased this item as a gift for my wife. I think I do a good job with gifts for her, but she never uses any of them. However, she says she loves this book and reads it daily. I highly recommend it for the woman in your life. I'm not getting anything for free or being paid to say this. Scout's honor. It's a great little book.

I've gone through five of this book over the years, they've become so dog-earred and worn, I couldn't red them any more. They are my daily reading ritual. Nothing too heavy and not religious. Just one page each day with a two or three line quote from someone of note. Yesterday, April 2, was Golda Meir. Then a short paragraph about one positive thought for each day. I'm not one who usually goes for these things but this is one I live by and the ones I've given as gifts have meant the world to the ones who received them. Really, GO GET ONE! There are several covers but the book remains the same.

Each day contains a quote, a message, and an affirmation for the day. Mornings are always the most hectic for me, but I do feel so centered when I can take a second for myself and read. This is the perfect solution, as it takes no more than a minute or two to read through; yet the messages can be deep and thought-provoking and you can easily turn it into a longer reflection by journaling a response to the message. Plus, somehow each day seem applicable to my current situation! So glad I found this little gem.

This isn't exclusive to women. It's important for men to know this perspective -- very important in my opinion. The ladies have thought patterns a bit different from men. Seeing and reading how things are viewed through different eyes has been great.

This a "one day at a time" must read ! Got this book in 1986...it's dog/eared..and handled with care. It has lifted me up and taught me how to lift others. Gets me out of my "squirrel cage " thinking...Not religious, yet relates well with 12 step philosophy. Great opportunity for spiritual and personal growth.

Personally, there is no better way to start my next 24 hours than reading a great meditation and Karen Casey fits the bill perfectly! You don't have to be in recovery to enjoy this and be able to restore your faith, self-esteem and self-worth. I've also found journaling along with it very helpful! I'll look over my days entry in the evening and I can reflect on what I thought was going to be a fearful, scary day and see how I've put the suggestions and tools to work. And, most importantly, I realize that the fearful, scary day wasn't so bad after all. This reinforces everything I've learned about keeping it "in the day"...because that's all we have - today.

I purchased this book after giving away my first copy. It is a wonderful daily devotional with spirituality based on the recovering alcoholic 12 step program. I am a christian but this can speak from many spiritual points of view. I love the daily readings, one page each in length but loaded with wisdom, encouragement in facing daily life challenges with relationships, other struggles and self worth. It's gets me out of myself and teaches me how to regard people who enter my life moment to moment. Life is not all about me or my struggles which is a recurrent theme. At the same time the daily readings teach, encourage and instruct the reader how to live in a world of relationships and how to learn and grow to be the person you want to be. I highly recommend this book. I believe it is published or endorsed by the Hazelden treatment centers for recovering alcoholics. I am not an alcoholic but love this book and would recommend it for women in general.

I used this book extensively while hiking the Big South Fork area and was extremely satisfied. In awarding this rating I have made a consideration for the fact that the book was published in 2000. Before I took the first hike I assumed I would likely have some issues with signs and path usage, I found this to be a correct assumption at times. Signs were missing or laying on the ground and several trails have not been maintained for some time. However I would not have enjoyed this trip without this reference book. It also covered more arches than any other publication I could find. A great addition to my hiking library.

I was looking for something describing the geological processes involved in making natural arches in a little more technical nature. This book has decent section on it for the casual reader but it is more of a guide book for the sightseer of the Big South Fork area. It deals with brief sections of the historical, cultural, and physiological, aspects of the area and has good descriptions of and directions to the arches with black and white photos of most of the arches, if not all. Good for hikers and photographers.

The Big South Fork sits across the Tennessee Valley from the the Great Smoky Mountains, yet it is a very different environment with fewer visitors. This guide makes the spectacular scenery of the North Cumberland Plateau available to hikers and car tourists, while explaining the unique geology and woodlands of that region.

We vacationed at the Big South Fork this summer. We visited 19 arches, using this book as our guide. The focus on the arches made the perfect theme for our vacation. The directions are accurate except for the directions to the Split Bow Arch, where there is a mistake in mileage. I wish the photos were in color because these arches are very colorful. (But then you could take your own photos.) I still give this book 5 stars because it was so helpful and unique.

Very interesting

The bookshelf above my desk is filled with hiking guides, one for nearly every hiking destination in the eastern US. This guide is unlike any other on that shelf.First, let me give some basic information about this book. Destinations described in this book are grouped into three geographic areas: Big South Fork NRRA, Pickett State Park (located in Tennessee just west of BSF), and southern Daniel Boone National Forest, located in southern Kentucky. These three adjacent areas contain more arches than just about any area in the east, so there is plenty of material for a book of this sort. Also, the book contains 29 photos of BSF arches and landforms, so even though they are not color photos, you can take a tour of BSF arches without leaving your living room by reading this book.The book describes 25 hikes, each one leading to at least one arch. Most of the hikes are extremely short (0.5 mile or less), though a couple are longer. There are five hand-drawn maps in an appendix that cover areas of high arch concentration, but most hikes do not have maps accompanying them. Further, trail descriptions focus on the arch rather than the hike (see next paragraph). This fact combined with the lack of maps caused me to get lost a couple of times when I was hiking to these arches, but I always found myself easily since the hike was short and I am an experienced hiker.Now back to my introductory thought, namely why this hiking guide is unique. Most hiking guides emphasize trail descriptions, with descriptions of scenery along the trail included as part of a trail description. This book is organized around arches with a secondary treatment given to the trails. Indeed, this book is only 100 pages long, and the first 22 are devoted to an introduction to arch formation and BSF geography, geology, and history. You won't find this much detailed information on landforms in most hiking guides, but it doesn't leave much room for trail descriptions as you would find in most hiking guides.In sum, if you are looking for a good, general hiking guide to the BSF, this book is not for you. With the focus geared so heavily to arches, this book is simply not designed to serve that purpose. However, if you are looking for a book that specializes in BSF arches to supplement your collection of BSF hiking guides (or your personal knowledge of the area), this book would make an excellent addition to your library.

This guidebook to the natural arches of the Big South Fork area is the only guidebook to these fascinating geologic features of the area. I have used it extensively, and it is a great addition to the growing list of books on the Big South Fork area. The author has taken care to give accurate and detailed instructions about how to get to AND appreciate these wonderful geologic features in the Big South Fork Country.The book not only gives accurate and detailed information about how to get to these fascinating rock features, but it also gives a survey of the human history of the rugged Big South Fork country of Tennessee and Kentucky. The author, Arthur McDade, also fully stresses hiking and backcountry safety, and refers the reader to additional reference books about the area, including trail guides and topographical maps.This book is a must for all folks who are interested in the Big South Fork country. Get it in addition to the other trail guides to the area, to round out your library. I recommend it wholeheartedly, as I have hiked and backpacked all over the country, and this book is one of the best I have seen about geologic features and history.
